Hi, I’m Jen Kirk, a portrait and family photographer based just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. I have had a passion for photography since my first class in high school, where I learned to use film. However, life took me in a different direction, and I stepped away from pursuing photography full-time. Four years ago, I returned to the digital era of photography and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Digital Photography from Southern New Hampshire University. This education provided me with a means to express how I view the world and offered me a unique way to visually narrate stories, much like an author conveys tales through words. Today, I continue to use photography as a way to tell stories.
Initially, I focused on capturing subjects that intrigued me. As I grew older, this evolved into telling my family's stories and, in many ways, my own story as well. I am driven to share my perspective with the world, highlighting details that often go unnoticed. I believe that if we could slow down, many of these small wonders would become apparent. However, when we rush through life, we often miss the beauty in things like the earth glistening after rain or the delicate flutter of a butterfly's wings.
When I’m not working on a photographic project, I enjoy spending time outdoors, embracing all the activities that Utah has to offer throughout the year. I also love reading, listening to music, and spending quality time with my family.
